After 80 years of training students in journalism, Texas Woman's University's mass-communication program is being eliminated on the grounds of declining student interest and financial support. Twenty-six students graduated from the program in the 1996-97 school year; eight graduated in 2002-03. Journalism courses will be provided through summer 2005.
